A rare Late 16th Century Casket With A Fully Fitted Interior. The single plank shaped and rising top secured by ornate pierced strap work hinges above a fully fitted casket with a fall front. The interior profusely carved and fitted with five open compartments and a candle box above four dummy drawers over two banks of three drawers of various sizes. A secret compartment containing a small drawer within the backboard behind the central bottom drawer. The fall front secured by matching ornate pierced strap work hinges flanking the original decorative pierced lock plate.
Raised on later turned feet. Extremely rare and of excellent colour.
