A Circa 1500 Oak Chest

A circa 1500 oak chest fitted with a lifting lid secured by decorative strap work hinges. The front covered with gothic blind carved tracery. The original lock is most unusual with the hasp formed into a zoomorphic depiction terminating in a beasts head. Hand cut dovetails to all corners with carrying handles to either end. This is a rare example of an early chest of this type of diminutive proportions. Raised on sledge feet. Period wear and restorations associated with age as would be expected.
