Sword and Pen Watercolour backed onto canvas Signed F W Davis 1897. Frederick William Davis (1862-1919) worked chiefly in Birmingham, often exhibiting his works at the major London shows. Later in his career he accepted several commissions to paint scenes from Shakespeare's plays. Known works include a watercolour depicting Act111, Scene 111, of The Merry Wives of Windsor in the collection of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.
